Thiago Almada will leave Atletico once his participation in the World Cup with Argentina is over. River Plate, according to Olé, has reached an agreement with the rojiblanco club to secure the 50% of the player's rights for 20 million euros.

Atlético de Madrid

The deal comes after a season in which the forward failed to settle in Madrid. Simeone did not count on him for the new campaign, and his departure was within the movements planned by the sporting department.

The agreement between the Atletico and River Plate would have been finalized in the last few hours, following a meeting between officials from both clubs. Almada, who is competing in the World Cup with the Argentina national team and has been a starter under Scaloni, would also have given his approval to the transfer.

A planned exit after a quiet year

The Argentine player, aged 25, had a contract with the rojiblanco club until 2030. His market value stands at 15 million euros, although River Plate will pay 20 million for half of his rights, a formula that confirms the interest of the Buenos Aires club in a player with a profile in his home country.

Almada arrived at the Atletico last summer from Botafogo as a market opportunity. The Brazilian club, according to the information published, could also receive some amount of money linked to this deal.

His spell in Madrid ends with a lack of continuity. He played 40 official matches, scored four goals, and never managed to play a major role in Simeone's plans.
