Pacha Espino closes his chapter in Spain and signs for Racing

Alfonso 'Pacha' Espino already has a new destination. The Uruguayan full-back brings an end to his time in Spanish football and will continue his career at the Racing Club de Avellaneda, which has announced his arrival on a contract for the next two seasons after joining the market as a free agent.

His departure from the Rayo Vallecano was an open secret, since the player himself made it clear before the Conference League final that his future was practically ruled out once his contract expired. Now, the Argentine club has made the signing official, allowing him to take on a new challenge at one of the historic clubs in South American football.

Espino thus closes an eight-season spell in Spain. First, he defended the Cádiz shirt for five campaigns, achieving promotion to LaLiga and then establishing himself in the top division. Later, he joined the Rayo Vallecano, where he played the last three seasons, winning over the fans for his commitment and consistency.

At 34 years old, the Uruguayan defender begins a new adventure away from LaLiga, but with the experience of having been a reliable player in Spanish football. His intensity, commitment, and ability to compete made him an important figure both at Cádiz and in Vallecas.
