Lazio are in talks over the departure of Mario Gila and Napoli is emerging as the most likely destination, still without official confirmation. The deal would have a direct impact on Real Madrid, who retain the other half of the centre-back's rights following his move to Italy in 2022.

The future of Mario Gila is moving in the Italian market, with a deal that could notably benefit the club where he was developed. According to El Partidazo de COPE, Álvaro von Richetti reported that the Barcelona defender is close to leaving Lazio to join Massimiliano Allegri's Napoli.

The agreement would be set at around the 15 million euros, a figure lower than the value given to him by specialized outlets such as Transfermarkt, where he is priced at close to 30 million. The explanation lies in his contractual situation: Gila's deal with Lazio runs out in June 2027, and the Roman club would rather complete a sale this summer than risk a departure without any fee within a year.

The percentage Real Madrid retains

The key point in the operation is the agreement signed in 2022. When the Real Madrid transferred Mario Gila to Lazio for around six million euros, it kept the 50% of a future sale. If the move to Napoli is confirmed at those figures, the Whites would receive around 7.5 million euros.

For the Madrid club, it would be another example of the financial returns it can generate with academy players who leave in search of minutes. Rather than parting completely with some of the players developed at La Fábrica, the club has used formulas in recent years that allow it to take part in subsequent transfers.

Gila, 25, arrives in this scenario after establishing himself at Lazio as a reliable centre-back. His performances in Serie A have been defined by defensive solidity, anticipation and a ball-playing outlet that has raised his competitive profile. That growth has also meant that his name has at some point been linked to the setup of the Spain senior national team.

Napoli, second in the latest Serie A, are looking to strengthen their squad to compete with guarantees in next season's Champions League. In that context, Gila appears as a target, and his possible arrival at the Neapolitan club would represent a new step in his career and would trigger the payment still owed to Real Madrid.
