The future of Víctor Muñoz is stirring up the market again. Newcastle has stepped up its interest in Osasuna winger and the deal points to a formula close to 40 million euros, although one key step still remains: Real Madrid's position.

The English club, after bringing in 80 million euros for Anthony Gordon, would be willing to put a significant portion of that amount toward signing Víctor Muñoz. According to information first reported by El Chiringuito and confirmed by AS, the proposal being discussed would be around 35 million euros fixed plus another 5 in add-ons, a structure that would match the amount of Osasuna's release clause of 40 million, but without executing it directly.

The operation does not depend solely on an agreement between Newcastle, the Navarre club and the player. The Real Madrid retains 50% of the player's rights after his sale for 5 million last summer. It also keeps a right of first refusal and a buy-back option that this summer would be set at between 8 and 10 million euros.

The decisive role of Real Madrid

If the negotiations moved forward, the white club would have to give its approval. If it were completed on the terms proposed, the Madrid club would receive a significant sum: up to 20 million euros, split into 17.5 million fixed and 2.5 in add-ons if the agreed conditions are met.

The move comes with Víctor Muñoz focused on the national team in Chattanooga, United States. If a final agreement is reached, the medical tests could be carried out in Tennessee. The winger has physical discomfort, as does Lamine and Nico Williams, although his progress is within expectations. The idea is for him to be able to take part in the first or second match, without taking unnecessary risks.

It is not the first time the attacker has attracted interest outside Pamplona. Last summer he could have moved to Milan, but he chose Osasuna's project and the trust of Braulio and Lisci. In January, Sunderland put 25 million euros on the table, but the response was clear: a release clause or nothing. The player also preferred to finish the season at El Sadar, which he did with 7 goals and 5 assists before returning to assess his future this summer.
