Osasuna makes its new coach official

The Catalan coach arrives on the Osasuna bench on a two-season contract, with his backroom staff already set. The club made the appointment official in a news item still in development, in which it also confirmed the names who will accompany the new coach.

Ramis will land in Pamplona alongside José Manuel Gil, who will act as assistant coach; Iván Madroño, assistant technician; Miguel Ángel Fernández, fitness coach; and José Fajardo, who will take the role of analyst.

The official presentation ceremony is scheduled for this Wednesday at 18:00. The unveiling of the new rojillo coach will be held with a press conference at El Sadar.

The club reaches an agreement with the Catalan coach for the next two seasons

Club Atlético Osasuna has reached an agreement with Luis Miguel Ramis for him to be the rojillo coach for the next two seasons. His link with the Catalan coach will run until June 30, 2028. He will arrive at the club accompanied by his second coach, José Manuel Gil; assistant coach Iván Madroño; fitness coach Miguel Ángel Fernández; and analyst José Fajardo. Today, at 6 p.m., his official presentation ceremony will take place with a press conference at El Sadar.

Luis Miguel Ramis Monfort (July 25, 1970; Tarragona) will have his first experience in LaLiga EA Sports after coaching the last ten seasons in the second tier. He arrives at the Navarrese club after completing an exceptional campaign with Burgos Club de Fútbol, with whom he amassed 72 points, a figure which, for the first time in the club's history, was not enough to contest the promotion playoff. He has also stamped his own identity on the Burgos side through a hard-fought tactical balance and competitiveness, with the team being the least conceded in the division, third with the fewest defeats, sixth with the most wins, and the third-best away record.

After a long career as a player, he began his coaching career in Real Madrid's youth ranks, where he also served as director of methodology for their academy. He was given the chance to coach Castilla after Zidane's promotion to the first team, and he managed to finish the Madrid B team first in their Segunda B group. The following season, he was called by Unión Deportiva Almería when there were only 12 matchdays left in the campaign and the team was second from bottom in Segunda. He secured survival with 7 wins, 1 draw and 4 defeats, although his Andalusian adventure would end prematurely in the next campaign.

His next club was Albacete, where he put together an outstanding 2018/19 season in which he finished the league in fourth place, contested the playoff, and was the second-highest scoring team in the division after the champions of that edition: Osasuna. He would play another promotion playoff to Primera with Tenerife in the 2021/22 season. At the club in the south, he spent three years, during which he gave the team defensive solidity that was reflected in an average of 0’85 goals conceded per match.

After 14 matchdays of the 2023/24 season had been played, he was hired by Espanyol. However, with 12 games remaining in the campaign, it was decided that he would not continue in charge of a team that was third and one point off direct promotion. After taking over a struggling Burgos side mid-season and finishing the 2024/25 campaign with comfortable safety, 10 points above the relegation zone, the newly completed season gave him the opportunity to start the project from the beginning of the campaign. The result has been Burgos's best season in Segunda División since 1975/76, when they earned promotion to the top flight. Now, at 55 years old and at full maturity as a coach, he takes on the challenge of training Club Atlético Osasuna in LaLiga's top division.
