Celestini remains on standby while Bordalás decides his future at Getafe
Getafe already has a plan in place in case José Bordalás does not continue on the bench. Fabio Celestini, a former azulón player, maintains an initial agreement with Ángel Torres conditioned on the final decision of the Alicante coach.

Getafe's planning now revolves around a key meeting. Bordalás and Ángel Torres are scheduled to meet this week to resolve a situation that has been pending for months and that directly affects next season's project.
The Alicante coachs contract ends on June 30 and he is attracting interest from several clubs. In LaLiga, options such as Sevilla and Espanyol have emerged, as well as offers from abroad. His profile has gained even more weight after leading the azulón squad to the Conference League with a seventh-place finish of great competitive value.
It has not been an easy season. The team started the season with barely thirteen registered players and ended up qualifying for Europe ahead of rivals with larger squads and budgets. Torres wants Bordalás to stay, but the club acknowledges that renewing will not be easy given the economic and sporting scenario unfolding this summer.
Celestini, the chosen alternative
Faced with this uncertainty, the azulón president has been working for some time on an alternative plan. The chosen name is Fabio Celestini, a former Getafe player between 2005 and 2010, with whom there is a preliminary agreement for several months to take over the bench if Bordalás decides not to renew.
The possible change is also shaped by the need to act quickly. The Conference League draw is set for August 3 and the first round will be played on the 20th and 27th of that same month. The club does not want to repeat last seasons scenario, when the squad was practically finalized at the very end of the transfer window.
The salary cap situation will be another decisive factor. The European qualification and seventh position help, but do not solve the problem. After the failed transfer of Christantus Uche to Crystal Palace last summer, LaLiga will require further sales to improve the margin. In this context, possible departures of important players such as Milla, Juan Iglesias, and almost certainly Arambarri emerge.
Celestini comes into this scene after a notable spell at Basel, where he won the Super League and the Swiss Cup. Afterwards, he signed a two-season contract with CSKA Moscow until June 2027, although his departure from the Russian club was announced this Monday. This season he was sixth in the Russian league before being dismissed.
The Swiss coach has always maintained a special bond with the azulón club. He was part of the Getafe team that competed in Europe and reached two Copa finals between 2005 and 2010. In an interview on Radio MARCA, when asked about the possibility of coaching the team someday, he gave a clear statement: Its my home, I have affection for it. If his arrival is finally confirmed, he would become the twelfth coach of Getafe in La Liga after Quique Sánchez Flores, Schuster, Laudrup, Víctor Muñoz, Míchel, Luis García Plaza, Cosmin Contra, Pablo Franco, Fran Escribá, Juan Eduardo Esnaider, and José Bordalás.
