Real Madrid has already contacted José Mourinho because they believe he is the ideal coach to bring order to a locker room in crisis.  Now everything depends on Florentino Pérez, while the Portuguese coach would be delighted to return to the Bernabéu.

Real Madrid is experiencing one of the most tense moments in recent years. The atmosphere in the locker room is completely broken and inside the club they already accept that a strong change is needed to regain control of the team. The latest controversies, such as the alleged fight between Valverde and Tchouaméni, the one between Carreras and Rudiger, the snubs from Xavi Alonso and later Arbeloa toward several players, have set off all the alarms at the Bernabéu. In the club, it is clear that although he was not their first choice for a new project, he is the best option to rein in the players’ egos, which are out of control.

The club believes that the players have ended up imposing themselves over the coaches and that neither Xabi Alonso nor Álvaro Arbeloa have managed to redirect the situation. Therefore, the board thinks someone with a lot of personality, experience, and a firm hand is needed to restore order. A firm hand, that is what is needed now, according to the white club. A certain influential part of the Madrid fanbase believes that a coach who knows how to manage personalities would be better, but with Zidane refusing to coach France and Ancelotti with Brazil, it is hard to find a coach who understands the complexity of the club, adapts quickly, and delivers results from day one.

And here comes a name that never leaves anyone indifferent: José Mourinho.

According to several reports, including AS, Sky Sports Germany, and Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid has already begun contacts with the Portuguese coach to consider his return. In fact, club representatives allegedly met this very week with Mourinho’s entourage to advance the conversations.

The Portuguese, who currently coaches Benfica, would be delighted at the possibility of returning to the Santiago Bernabéu. He believes he still has unfinished business at Madrid and would be willing to come back even giving absolute priority to the white club over offers from England.

That said, Mourinho wants guarantees. According to Fabrizio Romano, the coach has requested direct talks about the sports project, the budget, and, above all, having total control over the locker room. At Madrid, they know that if anyone can handle a group full of egos and tension, it is precisely him.

Right now, the operation mainly depends on Florentino Pérez, who would have the final say and should pay the coach’s release clause, set at about three million euros.

The possible return of Mourinho would once again divide the Madrid fanbase, because his first spell left very good memories for some and a lot of controversy for others. But inside the club, they believe that his character, experience, and knowledge of the club could be exactly what the team needs to start a rebuilding after two disappointing seasons.

What do you think, is Mou a good coach for next season? Who would you suggest to lead the coming year
