A great offer comes for Carlos Vicente and he could leave
Deportivo Alavés is preparing for the match against Betis with the name of Carlos Vicente at the center of the market. Ajax has decisively joined the bidding for the Aragonese winger, who is also of interest to Birmingham City.

MDThe appointment of former Alavés player Jordi Cruyff as sporting director has rekindled Ajax's interest. In Amsterdam, they see Vicente as the replacement for Raúl Moro, who was transferred this week to CA Osasuna for 5 million euros for 50% of his rights. With the Ajax team in second place in the Eredivisie and already eliminated from the Champions League, the club prioritizes a reinforcement to revitalize their attack.
The 26-year-old forward has a contract until 2027 with Alavés and a release clause of 20 million. The parties are in contact, with Cruyff playing a key role, to explore an agreement that is not yet finalized and would be around 10 million euros: a figure that Alavés already considered at the beginning of last summer, a figure that neither Birmingham City nor Olympiacos reached then. At the end of August, Alavés even asked for amounts close to the release clause, as happened in winter 2025, when Ajax also flirted with signing him.
His arrival
Vicente arrived at Mendizorroza in January 2024 from Racing de Ferrol for 600,000 euros and his impact was immediate, both with Luis García and Coudet. This season he has had less continuity: Calebe has taken several starting positions on the right, and the Aragonese player has been a substitute in half of the games. Nevertheless, he remains as the main offensive argument: 9 goals in 24 matches (4 in the league top scorer alongside Boyé and 5 in the Cup) and participation in all matches of the season.
His future
Ajax would offer him a contract for three and a half seasons improving his conditions at Mendizorroza. The Dutch interest coincides with Alavés' needs in the market: center-back, left winger, and forward. The planning is conditioned by the difficulty in moving on Maras, Diarra, and Mariano, who are out of the squad due to technical decision; in the case of the Serbian due to his refusal to leave in the summer and in the case of the Malian and the Spanish-Dominican for "breaking the rules of coexistence", as Coudet pointed out.
The sale of Raúl Moro to Osasuna has hastened the interest, with the babazorros at a crossroads. A substantial sale like Vicente's would accelerate the arrivals the club has in progress, but it would also force them to replace a key player's absence.
