Mikel Rodriguez and Facundo Garces, the only absentees

Quique Sanchez Flores confirmed that Mikel Rodriguez and Facundo Garces will not be available for the match against Sevilla.

«Apart from Mikel Rodriguez and Facundo Garces, everyone else will be available», he said.

That means the coach can call on the rest of his players for a fixture he sees as crucial to rediscovering good feelings.

Quique sticks with his plan for the starting XI

The coach explained that the postponements of recent matches have not changed his decisions on the line-up.

The coaching staff had already planned minutes management with the fixture list and the Copa del Rey in mind, so they are sticking with the scheduled plan.

However, he did not reveal any names or confirm possible changes from the last league match.

Emotional recovery is a priority

Quique admitted the dressing room is going through a difficult spell, both because of results and the emotional impact of the death of Jesus de Miguel.

«What worries us most right now is getting the players' morale back», he explained.

The coach believes that a win is essential to restore confidence and get back to the competitive level shown at the start of the season.

The reunion with Jon Guridi

The coach also spoke about Jon Guridi, who now plays for Sevilla and could face his former club.

Quique highlighted his commitment during his time in Vitoria and admitted the club tried to keep him.

«He was very much the kind of player we wanted. I used him a lot because he seemed very much like an Alaves player to me», he recalled.

The coach expects a demanding match at the Sanchez-Pizjuan, where he believes intensity, concentration and defensive solidity will be essential.
