Bernal was sent off with a straight red against Barcelona after grabbing Lamine Yamal by the neck and landing two consecutive headbutts to the face. The ball was not in play. The Betis appealed the decision, but the Disciplinary Committee rejected the allegations and handed him four matches of suspension.

The verdiblancos will have to reshuffle the midfield. The alternative will depend on how Pellegrini wants to distribute the positions and on the players available for the next game, but the most likely scenario is for the midfield to be made up of Pablo Fornals, Isco and Marc Roca.

The centre-back was sent off with a straight red against the Rayo Vallecano. He already had a yellow card for a handball and, in the 28th minute, he arrived late to a challenge on Álvaro García when the Rayo winger was about to enter the area. The referee deemed that he had brought down the attacker in an obvious goal-scoring opportunity.

As for the replacements, Bordalás will have to choose between Abdel Abqar, if he is available, and Sebastián Boselli.

Vinícius Júnior will continue serving the four-match suspension imposed on him for his sending off against Villarreal, after pulling a rival by the hair and then staging protests afterward. Last matchday was the first one he missed, so he still has three more matches of suspension to serve, including this one.
