Valencia - Villarreal

Match date: 24/10-18:30

Valencia CF

Two matches, two draws for Aguirre's Valencia. The team is craving a win, and what better game than at home in a derby against a Villarreal that arrives with low energy after a big workload against Liverpool.

The Che side arrives with plenty of doubts in the XI. The goal and defense look set to keep playing the same way. In midfield, after the latest training sessions, it seems that Guido will stay as the sweeper with two players ahead of him, one of whom is clearly set to be Javi Guerra, his partner comes from up to three options with Pepelu, Ugrinic and Elliott. Up front, Hugo Duro has not made the most of his chances and it could finally be time for the bench; in his place Danjuma looks like the 9. On the wings, with a Rioja who is recovered, he regains options for a starting spot, while on the other flank he could continue with Raba or be given the start he has been so deserving of, Otorbi.

Aguirre still has not found the right formula, and with a third match tweaking things, he hopes to secure Valencia's first home win.

Villarreal CF

The Villarreal travel to Mestalla this Saturday for an autonomous derby in which both teams arrive in need of points. The Yellow Submarine still have not found consistency in LaLiga and sit in 12th place after playing out a goalless draw against Elche at La Ceramica. They also could not take anything positive from their trip to Anfield, where they were beaten 4-3 by the Liverpool in a Champions League match in which, at least, they showed a better attacking version. Opposite them will be a Valencia in an even more delicate situation, second from bottom in the table and still without knowing what a home win feels like this season.

As for the absentees, Iñigo Pérez will still not be able to call on Pépé, who continues recovering from his eye surgery, while Nathan Saliba is a doubt due to muscle discomfort. Attention will also be needed on the accumulated fatigue after the demanding European match and on possible rotations, bearing in mind that Villarreal will debut in the Copa del Rey next Tuesday.

Regarding the starting XI, Gulácsi looks set to stay between the posts, with Freeman, Foyth, Renato Veiga and Cardona as the main candidates to form the defense. In midfield, Pape Gueye and Comesaña start with the advantage, while Akhomach and Moleiro have plenty of options to take the wide roles, although Buchanan could also have his chances. The main doubts are again in attack, where Ayoze appears to have his spot secured and Gerard Moreno is battling for a starting place with Oluwaseyi and Mikautadze.
