PSG vs Barcelona preview: Champions clash in Paris

FC Barcelona

The Barcelona of Hansi Flick face one of the toughest tests of the season. After thrashing Betis (2-5) and maintaining their excellent run of results, the blaugrana will be looking for their third European win against the current Champions League holders.

The biggest problem for the Catalan side is their defence. Eric Garcia and Jules Kounde are out with injury, while Gerard Martín is carrying knocks and is a doubt for the starting XI. Flick could opt for Xavi Espart at right-back and will have to find solutions to complete the back line. Up front, the return of Raphinha is excellent news.

A PSG with plenty of attacking threat

Luis Enrique's side arrive after beating Strasbourg (1-3) and with the confidence that they have already overcome Manchester City (4-2) in the Champions League. The Parisians have a fearsome attack made up of Dembélé, Kvaratskhelia and Désiré Doué, as well as a midfield of huge quality.

The main French absence will be Nuno Mendes, who is injured, which could especially affect the battle on the flank against Lamine Yamal.

The match will also be shaped by the calendar. Barcelona host Real Madrid on Sunday in the Clásico, so Flick will have to manage the workload of his players without giving up on securing a prestigious win in Paris.

Possible line-ups

PSG: Safonov; Hakimi, Zabarnyi, Pacho, Digne; Fabián Ruiz, Vitinha, João Neves; Désiré Doué, Dembélé and Kvaratskhelia.

Barcelona: Joan García; Xavi Espart, Cubarsí, Gerard Martín, Cancelo; Rodri, Pedri, Dani Olmo; Lamine Yamal, Raphinha and Anthony Gordon.
