Concern at Atletico over Cuti Romero

Atlético de Madrid

The main question right now is whether Romero will be able to travel to Germany to face Stuttgart in the Champions League. The club's medical staff are assessing the discomfort he is experiencing in his thigh, so the results will need to be awaited to determine his availability.

The centre-back finished the match against the Espanyol with physical problems, and was replaced in the 67th minute by Rodrigo Mendoza. After the game, Diego Simeone said the midfielder's introduction was a tactical decision aimed at going for the win, although he did not mention the discomfort the Argentine was carrying.

Cuti's absence from the Sunday session has increased concern at the Atlético. The player remains under the supervision of the club's medical staff and it has not yet been confirmed whether he will be included in the squad for the European tie or whether he will have to stay in Madrid recovering.

If he is ruled out, it would be a setback for Simeone. Since his arrival, Romero has become an important part of the rojiblanco defence, bringing authority, leadership, defensive solidity and the ability to start the game from the back.
