Bright Ede suffers a hamstring injury and his appearance against Atlético is in doubt. Loureiro starts as the alternative to partner Giménez.

DFDeportivo could lose one of its most reliable defensive pieces for the trip to Atlético de Madrid on October 24. Bright Ede finished the match injured against Levante and the first impressions do not bode well. Antonio Hidalgo confirmed that the centre-back has a hamstring problem and admitted that "it does not look very good".
The injury came in the 84th minute, when the coach was preparing the introduction of Kevin Sánchez. Ede had to leave the pitch and Ximo Loureiro came on urgently to complete the back line. The club is waiting for the medical tests that will determine the extent of the injury and the recovery time.
Hidalgo, had praised his maturity, his focus and his ability to handle the pressure despite his youth. In addition, his understanding with Giménez had brought stability to a defence that needs to keep that solidity against a demanding opponent like Atlético.
Bright Ede's replacement?
If the centre-back is not fit in time, Lucas Noubi, Loureiro, Barcia and Arnau Comas are the options to partner Giménez. The choice will depend on training and on Hidalgo's tactical needs for a match in which Deportivo will have to defend in an organized way and minimize mistakes.

DFMy first option would be Loureiro, as long as the coach considers him ready to take the starting spot in the heart of the defence. His introduction against Levante makes him a candidate, although that change does not guarantee he will be the one selected. Noubi, Barcia and Arnau Comas will also have to make the most of their chance.
Fantasy recommendation
In Fantasy terms, I would not buy any of the candidates just because of Ede's injury. The starting spot is still up for grabs and the final diagnosis still needs to be confirmed. If you already have Loureiro or one of the other centre-backs in your squad, I would wait for the next news before making a decision.
Ede's absence would be a setback for Deportivo, but it could also be an opportunity for a defender who manages to earn Hidalgo's trust. Until more information is available, Loureiro is my initial pick, with caution and without making a big investment.
