Celta arrive at matchday nine of the league this Sunday at Balaídos against Deportivo Alavés, after picking up a point with no thrills at Martínez Valero against Elche. It is one of those matches that leaves little to remember, except for one detail that is starting to become a habit: Radu was again the best player on the pitch.

Precisely at the start of this season, when the team is showing worrying attacking ineffectiveness, it looks like they have decided to fix one of the biggest criticisms from the previous campaign: defensive frailty. For now, Zamora celeste, keep an eye on that.

The only updates in the treatment room are bad. To the long-term injuries (Starfelt, M. Román, El Abdellaoui) is added Borja Iglesias, as well as Pablo Durán, who is a doubt with discomfort.

On the other hand, it is also likely that Giráldez will give opportunities to some of the less usual players, since the European XI against Juventus looked quite similar to the standard team the Galician coach has been using in the domestic competition.

We back Cáceres again in the starting XI, with Galán in defense and on the left flank. In midfield, there are few options in the pivot role given the injury absences in the squad, and Hugo Burcio could have a chance. Up front, all options are open. Aspas and Hugo González are the ones who had the least minutes on Thursday and would be the most reliable picks (if we have to say something).

Deportivo Alavés

New home defeat for the babazorros, who have now won three of their last four matches at home. A closely matched game against Atlético, where the sending off of Ángel Pérez swung the contest. Now the team travels to Vigo, where last season they took all three points with a historic comeback (3-4 after going 3-0 down) and that set the foundations for their eventual survival.

Quique will have the well-publicized absence of Ángel Pérez through suspension, while Garcés and Mikel Rodríguez are long-term absentees. The former Huesca man will be replaced by Tenaglia on the flank, with Koski coming into the center of defense (miraculously recovered). The rest of the starting XI should be fairly predictable, with some option for Aleñá.
