The Villarreal goalkeeper will not play against Napoli after suffering an armed robbery while he was at home with his family.

Peter Gulacsi will not be available for the Champions League match that Villarreal play this evening against Napoli at La Cerámica. The Hungarian goalkeeper has been through a traumatic situation after suffering an armed robbery at his own home during the early hours, when he was at the house with his wife and his two young children.

The Castellón club has confirmed what happened and explained that none of the family members suffered physical injuries. However, the psychological impact of the assault has been significant and the player is not in a condition to compete in a match of the highest demands.

Gulacsi arrived at Villarreal this summer and now faces a complicated personal situation, far removed from sporting activity. The player's priority is to recover from the emotional blow and move past the scare he experienced alongside his loved ones.

Luiz Junior will take the place left vacant by Peter Gulacsi

Other Villarreal players also suffered robberies

This type of incident has already affected players from the yellow team before. Players such as Toko Ekambi and Zambo Anguissa were also victims of similar episodes during their time at the club.

In Valencia, similar cases have been recorded in previous seasons, with players such as Ezequiel Garay, Gabriel Paulista and Geoffrey Kondogbia among those affected.

For now, the absence of Gulacsi means a blow for Villarreal in their European commitment, although the reason goes far beyond sport. The goalkeeper needs time to process what happened and regain his peace of mind after an especially tough experience for him and his family.
