Ratiu drops out at the last minute against Athletic

Rayo Vallecano

The franjirrojo side's squad arrives with three notable absences, but the one that stands out most is that of Andrei Ratiu. The Romanian international will not take part in the match against Athletic after continuing to compete over the past few weeks despite his discomfort.

According to MARCA, Ratiu and the Rayo Vallecano have agreed that the player will take a break until he is fully recovered. The decision is driven by the need to finally overcome the physical issues that have been affecting him for an extended period.

The defender comes from an especially demanding international window. Despite not being at full fitness, he played in three of the four matches contested by Romania's national team, building up more competitive minutes before returning to his club.

His absence leaves the Madrid side without one of its usual right-sided players as they host Athletic Club. For now, the information published does not set a specific date for his return, which will depend on how his recovery goes.

Pelayo and Rayane also miss out on the squad

The Rayo list also includes two other absences. Pelayo and Rayane have been ruled out for technical reasons, so their situations are different from that of the Romanian international.

That means Vallecas will face this Saturday's match without Ratiu, temporarily sidelined from competition due to his physical problems, and without Pelayo or Rayane, who were not included among the choices made by the coaching staff.
