Roberto Fernández's future is once again generating movement in the transfer market. After rejecting an offer from Hull City during the last transfer window, Espanyol now has to deal with interest coming from Germany, although for the time being no specific bid from Bundesliga clubs has been reported.

The information comes from Florian Plettenberg, a Sky Sport News journalist who specializes in transfers, who says that several German sides have the Perico attacker among their targets for next summer.

The numbers explain much of that attention. Roberto Fernández has scored six goals in the first seven matchdays of LaLiga, a run that is added to by his recent debut with the Spain national team. Precisely, his international debut has caused his release clause to rise from 25 to 30 million euros.

Potential market moves have also been addressed by Monchi, Espanyol's sporting director, in an interview given to SPORT. The executive believes that both the player and his circle are satisfied with their current situation: “I think the kid and his surroundings as of today are satisfied, they are happy here”.

Monchi believes that having regular minutes with the blue-and-white side can boost the striker's international options: “Playing for Espanyol makes it easier to go to the national team, because here he has more continuity”.

He also does not rule out that the situation could change if any club decides to pay his release clause and Roberto agrees to leave. “If someone comes and pays the clause and he wants to go, then we will have to look for solutions in the market”, the sporting director explained.

For now, Monchi prefers to focus on the striker's performance and to park any possible exit: “I want to think that Roberto keeps scoring goals”.
