The possible signing of Dani Carvajal by Getafe has suffered a major setback after reports from the past few hours. Ángel Torres now says the deal is off and that there will be no updates this Wednesday, although the Getafe president still intends to keep trying.

The arrival of Dani Carvajal seemed well on track on Tuesday afternoon. Talks progressed quickly and Ángel Torres himself even said the full-back had passed the medical and that there was an agreement between the parties, leaving only the fit of the deal with LALIGA to be resolved.
The picture changed just a few hours later. The top executive at Getafe lowered expectations, saying everything was "smoke" and that the player "wasn't going to come".
The comments made this Wednesday on El Chiringuito have added another chapter. Asked again about the status of the negotiations, Torres was blunt: “There is nothing. Everything has fallen apart”.

The salary cap and the authorization required from LaLiga appear as the main obstacles to completing a deal that had reached an advanced stage. The situation is especially striking after Torres had previously explained that Carvajal had already completed the medical tests.
Even though he has effectively written off the move for now, the Getafe president has not definitively closed the door on bringing the full-back in and has confirmed that the talks can continue.
"If there is no agreement, then you can't break it. We are going to try; all parties have to give the OK, but today there will be nothing", Ángel Torres said.
Carvajal remains in limbo while his future is resolved, as Getafe keeps the possibility open of trying again to bring him in.
