It is their turn in matchday 8!
There is a special category of players that deserves special recognition: those who have been watching for weeks as their teammates take the spotlights, the applause and the only thing that really matters to us managers is, in fact, the points. Who are the chosen ones? It is their turn.
Everything comes, teammate. Even if that vague hope is born from a deep belief in players who, for now, have not even the slightest justification to keep them in the starting XI. Don't lose heart, friend. It's their turn!
It is just that life is sometimes capricious. It's not that that guy you signed when he was fired up because last year he looked like a mix of the best Kaká, with the intensity of Edgard Davids at his peak and the goal-scoring instinct in rojiblanco of Falcao...
It's simply that they are at that point in the season when the ball seems to have a toxic relationship with them. They try, they go for it...but there is no way.
Until one day... zap!!! A goal, an assist, a great performance, and 12 points in the bag.
That is why, in this matchday, we put the spotlight on those players who, by statistics, by feelings, or by simple football fairness (¿?), this week yes - as you keep telling yourself over and over internally - are knocking on the door.
Aleix Febas1.820.000€-310.000€-
MDAfter getting over an injury that kept him away from the pitch for a few weeks, the midfielder is aiming back at the starting XI now that Miguel Román is out of action. Football has these things: one comes back just when the other goes down.
The chance could not be clearer against his former team. For the sky-blue side, it is time to show off passing, clarity, quality, and the control of the game that characterized him last season.
Pablo Barrios6.520.000€+90.000€-
MDClearly, it is time for the rojiblanco academy player. The midfielder has options to return to Cholo's starting XI this week after another mandatory visit to the treatment room, that place that, unfortunately, he knows all too well.
In the first four matches played before the injury, he scored in a notable way. His injury record makes you want to cross your fingers, but he has plenty of talent for us to keep backing him.
Oyarzabal8.330.000€-1.460.000€4
DLWearing the national team shirt, Oyarzábal turns into a striker from another era. He shows up when he is needed, scores, provides assists, and decides games. With the blanquiazul, though, he has not found that point yet. 28 points in Comunio and in seven matchdays, without scoring and with just two assists (in the same match) are numbers that demand a reaction.
The captain of the txuri-urdin needs to step up and a home game against a newly promoted side could be an excellent opportunity.
Lejeune1.890.000€-20.000€4
DFYou must have been expecting a very happy time when you signed Lejeune. A classic in Comunio terms - Fantasy, the kind where you sign him and you start already working out the points you are going to get from him even before the ball rolls.
However, this season the numbers are what they are: an average of 2.5, 17 points in seven matchdays, and a bunch of scores that hurt just to look at. Are we crazy or what? The Frenchman is still an undisputed starter at Rayo, so it is time to trust that this is a rough patch and not a new normal.
It is their turn... to tame the lions on Sunday.
