The Alavés host Atlético de Madrid after stringing together three matches without a win, with two defeats and a goalless draw against Athletic at San Mamés. Quique Sánchez Flores' side sit sixth with 11 points and will look to regain their strength at Mendizorroza, where they have already shown their competitive edge. The coach is expected to stick with his usual back five and a cautious approach against one of the competition's hottest teams.

The main updates are in defence, where Ville Koski is ruled out with a lmuscular injury in the quadriceps, picked up during the international break. Facundo Garcés and Mikel Rodríguez are also unavailable, both with long-term knee injuries. These absences will force Quique to reshuffle the defensive spine, while no major changes are expected in the rest of the positions. Lucas Boyé continues to be the main attacking reference for the babazorro side.

The main doubts are around Mariano Díaz or Toni Martínez up front; Denis Suárez or Aleñá in midfield. There are also doubts about the composition of the midfield between Denis Suárez, Aleñá and Protesoni.

Atlético de Madrid

Back to league action after the long international break. Atlético were arriving in good form after their convincing win over Real Madrid and we will see how this break affects the rojiblancos.

Normally Simeone tends to give as much rest as he can to players who come back from travel, but not everyone will be able to rest, so we believe there will be players who find things more difficult from the start.

In midfield during this break, Simeone has tried on several occasions with Koke, Cardoso and Barrios. We'll see if the latter is already at 100% to start. 

Players like Llorente and the three we mentioned, are supposedly starters. We'll see over the next few days, and depending on how things develop as players arrive, whether there are many changes or just a few.
