6 alternatives to Raphinha in case he does not make it in time

FC Barcelona

The Brazilian Football Confederation announced the striker's withdrawal as a precaution after the first examinations. Raphinha left Brazil's camp in Brisbane before the trip to Calcutta for the friendly against India and returns to the Catalan capital.

Once he is at the Ciutat Esportiva, he will undergo further tests. If it is confirmed that it is only swelling, the Barcelona expects to have him ready to face Getafe on October 10 at 6:30 pm.

His possible absence would force the club to look for an alternative for a player who has taken on significant weight at the start of this season. Raphinha has 14 goals and three assists and has made a standout impact in seven of the eight official matches played.

The most natural option to fill the center-forward role is Gabriel Jesus. The attacker arrived from Arsenal for 10 million euros after the signing of Julián Álvarez could not be completed. He has featured in four of the five official matches, always as a substitute, and his 39 minutes have been enough to score two goals: one against Racing with a well-placed shot and another with his head against Feyenoord.

Hamza is also an option, although his experience with the first team is, for now, limited to four minutes.

Gordon, Olmo, Fermín and Lamine widen the range

The squad's versatility allows Flick to manage other variations. Before the start of LaLiga, the coach even considered the possibility of using Raphinha as a '9'. At that time, he was thinking of using Anthony Gordon in that position. Adeyemi also appeared among the possibilities, although the German coach did not consider him for that role because of his pace. All of this happened before Gabriel Jesus joined the team.

Dani Olmo and Fermín can also act as false nines in certain scenarios. Neither is a specific '9', but both offer mobility, pressing, arriving from the second line, and the ability to show up inside the box.

To those options, we must add Lamine Yamal himself, another piece Flick could use to reorganize his attacking line if Raphinha does not overcome his discomfort in time or if the coaching staff decides not to take risks with the Brazilian.
