Deportivo have resumed training with Lorenzo Amatucci working away from the group. The discomfort in his adductor has led the coaching staff to take extra precautions with the Italian, who will not play in the friendly against Oporto and is aiming to be available for the trip to Real Sociedad.

Returning to work at Abegondo after four days off has left Lorenzo Amatucci as one of the standout names. The midfielder carried out a personalized session and Deportivo have chosen not to take any risks with his recovery, especially given the shortage of options in midfield.

The Italian is dealing with adductor discomfort that already prevented him from featuring in the most recent league match against Betis and in the previous friendly against Penafiel. He will also not be available this Friday to face Oporto at Riazor, in a game scheduled for 19:00.

The plan is to manage his workload with a view to the next official fixture. Deportivo will return to competition after the international break on October 11 against Real Sociedad at Anoeta, and the aim is for Amatucci to be able to reach that match without having to rush his recovery.

His latest appearance came against Sevilla, a match in which he played the full 90 minutes. Until then, he had accumulated all of his season's minutes as an outfield player. After that game, Antonio Hidalgo admitted that the circumstances of the tie, including Angeliño's sending off, influenced his decisions.

"If you see how the match ended for Amatucci, then, in other circumstances, it would surely have been a substitution", explained the Blanquiazul coach.

Amatucci's situation takes on even more importance due to the absences and movements that have reduced Hidalgo's options in midfield. Marc Casadó has undergone surgery for a fractured collarbone, Teun Gijselhart has been loaned out to Al Ain, and Noé Carrillo continues to make progress in recovering from the ankle injury he suffered during the Teresa Herrera.

With this scenario, Diego Villares, Mario Soriano and Riki Rodríguez are currently the available midfielders in the first team.

The lack of bodies has already led the coaching staff to call on the academy during the friendly against Penafiel. Frank Iglesias, a youth team defensive midfielder, started in Portugal, while Mauro Valeiro, an attacking midfielder and an international at Spain's youth levels, came on during the second half.

Deportivo will therefore continue to be cautious with Amatucci. The Italian will keep working individually as he tries to move past his discomfort and be available for the match against Real Sociedad.
