But nothing could be further from the truth. A lone penalty goal is all he has to show for it. No one expected him to repeat his past numbers, but it was expected that he would be a decisive player, with the ability to reach at least 15 goals. Plenty to improve.

The surprise in midfield from last season; Elche owes part of its survival to him. In a team like Celta, with an upbeat style of play, it was possible to foresee that his numbers would even improve. With Eric Garcia at an extraordinary level, Fort's breakthrough, and Cancelo's return, his competition has increased considerably. That would not be a problem for the best Kounde, but he is far from being that solid defender with great attacking additions.
