Official medical report and estimated time out for Fede Valverde

There is already a definitive diagnosis for Fede Valverde. Real Madrid has published this Tuesday a new medical report confirming that the Uruguayan midfielder is suffering a Grade 3 sprain in his left ankle, although the club's outlook is more optimistic than the diagnosis might initially indicate.

The official statement from the Whites says the following:

“After the tests carried out today on our player Fede Valverde by the Medical Services of Real Madrid, he has been diagnosed with a Grade 3 sprain in the left ankle. Pending recovery”.

Real Madrid estimates two to three weeks out

As reported by Diario AS, the forecasts being handled at Real Madrid point to a recovery period of between two and three weeks.

Although a Grade 3 sprain involves a significant ligament injury, in Valverde's case the tear would be partial, a circumstance that would allow a recovery that is much faster than is typical for an injury of this grade.

The other big piece of good news for the midfielder is that the injury comes right before the three-week international break. Valverde will not travel with Uruguay and will remain at Valdebebas working with Real Madrid's medical staff and recovery team.

Will Valverde be back for the match against Villarreal?

If the most optimistic timelines are met, Valverde could even miss no official match. Real Madrid will return to competition next October 10 against Villarreal at the Santiago Bernabéu.

That said, reaching that game would require the Uruguayan to recover within the minimum expected timeframe and would be quite tight, so his progress will need to be monitored over the coming weeks before his presence can be considered assured.

The main goal will be for the midfielder to return fully recovered to tackle the next stretch of the season and, above all, to arrive in the best possible condition for the October 25 El Clásico against Barcelona.

The injury happened in the derby

The problem occurred during the derby against Atlético de Madrid, after a challenge by Kang-In Lee on Valverde's left ankle. The player was able to continue on the pitch, but later tests confirmed the injury.

The new examinations carried out by Madrid's medical services have finally clarified the extent: Grade 3 sprain with partial involvement of the ligament.

What do we do with Valverde in fantasy?

The new information significantly improves the outlook for his managers. With a forecast of two to three weeks out and the international break in between, Valverde could miss very little action and even be available for the first match after the break.

That is why, it does not seem like an injury that necessarily forces you to sell the player, especially in markets where getting rid of the Uruguayan now could mean losing an important piece for the upcoming matchdays.

In any case, his progress will need to be monitored closely over the next few days. The Villarreal match on October 10 will be the first major reference to see whether Valverde manages to meet the most optimistic timelines.
