The main surprise comes up front. Julián Álvarez returns to a starting lineup after making his comeback last weekend at San Mamés, where he played the second half.

The decision is especially significant because Simeone had said beforehand that he still sees the Argentine in a growth phase and that he initially did not consider him starting the match. In the end, the coach has changed his plans and gives him a place in the starting XI for one of Europe's most demanding venues.

For fantasy managers, it's very good news. After a difficult few weeks, Julián looks increasingly close to getting back to normal and playing a starring role at Atlético. His physical response against Liverpool will now be key in determining whether he can start again at Anoeta.
