The longer ban applies to Jorge de Frutos, suspended for two matches for protests directed at the main referee, the assistant or the fourth official. The attacker for the Rayo Vallecano will not only miss the trip to the Madrid side, but he will also be unable to take part in the next league fixture against Espanyol.

Fran Pérez's situation is different. Discipline has handed him a one-match suspension after determining that he acted violently during the game or as a direct result of an incident in the match. Once that ban has been served against the Real Madrid, he will be available again to face Espanyol.

The committee maintains the bans despite Rayo's appeal

The red-and-white club had appealed both decisions in an attempt to overturn or reduce the punishments stemming from the red cards against Racing de Santander. The Disciplinary Committee, however, has dismissed Rayo's allegations and confirmed the sanctions initially set.

As a result, Beñat San José will have to take on the trip to the Santiago Bernabéu without De Frutos or Fran Pérez. For the following match, he will get Fran Pérez back, while De Frutos still has to serve the second game of his suspension.
