Suspended players and replacements, Matchday 5
The Matchday 5 of LaLiga EA Sports 2026/27 will feature several absences due to suspension. Five players will be unable to play their respective matches after red cards or suspensions carried over.

DFThe Argentine centre-back was sent off in the match between Getafe and Celta de Vigo after seeing two yellow cards. The second came in the closing stages of the game and left the blue-and-ones with a player less.
Romero will miss the next match for the azulones against Deportivo de la Coruña. With Abdel Abqar injured, Bordalás has several options at the heart of the defence, such as Boselli, Sazonov or Valou.

MDFran Pérez was sent off with direct reda in the 85th minute of the match against Racing de Santander. The winger received the card for striking Jorge Salinas in the face with his elbow during a tussle for the ball.
The player had come on to the pitch just 20 minutes earlier to replace De Frutos, so the Rayo are left with a major problem in that position.
In this case, Beñat San José would not have many issues, since Fran started out with a more secondary role and would not affect their starting XI.

MDDe Frutos was also sent off during the match against Racing, although his case was different from that of Fran Pérez.
The winger was on the bench when he was sent off in the 88th minute for leaving the bench, shouting and gesturing repeatedly while protesting a refereeing decision.
His absence leaves the Rayo without two players who can play on the right wing. Tsitaishvili appears as one of the main alternatives, while another possibility would be to move Ratiu forward and use Balliu as a full-back.

DFThe young centre-back from the Real Sociedad was sent off in the match against Elche. Jon Martín came on in the 58th minute and just six minutes later he saw direct red for cutting out a promising attack from the opposition with his hand.
The sending-off will prevent him from playing against Atlético de Madrid in matchday 5. To fill his defensive spot, Mamadou Sarr is the main option.

DFSangante was sent off in the match against Espanyol in the 56th minute. The Sevilla defender saw direct red for a foul as the last man, leaving Sevilla with ten players.
In addition, the centre-back later suffered a sprain in his right ankle, so his absence is not due solely to the suspension. Sevilla have few options in defence and Andrés Castrín is the main candidate to take his place against Valencia.
