Etta Eyong injured and called up by Cameroon

The presence of Etta Eyong in the list of 26 players drawn up by David Pagou raises a question mark ahead of the next international break. Cameroon have three matches scheduled between late September and early October, but the possible arrival of the attacker will depend on how she responds to her injury over the coming days.

The forward suffered discomfort in training last Friday and, in the end, was unable to travel to Málaga to take part in Sunday's game. Subsequent tests carried out by the medical services of the Levante determined that she has an injury to the rectus femoris muscle in her right leg.

The medical statement does not set an estimated time on the sidelines. Her progress will determine when she can return to training normally, so her participation with the Cameroon national team is not confirmed yet either.

The international calendar will begin for the 'Indomitable Lions' on September 24 against Comoros Islands. Five days later, on September 29, Cameroon will face Congo. Both matches belong to the qualifying phase for the next edition of the Africa Cup of Nations.

The camp also includes a third fixture: a friendly against Ivory Coast on October 3. Eyong is initially included among the 26 called up by David Pagou, although her muscular issue will need to be assessed first.

Luís Castro had already explained before the match against Málaga that the attacker had felt discomfort during the week and that it was necessary to know the exact extent of the problem before making decisions. With the diagnosis now confirmed, there is still no defined date for her return and Levante will continue to monitor her progress.
