The incident happened in an corner kick, when Eric Garcia collided fortuitously with his teammate Rodri. The defender was left in pain after the impact and, after being attended to by FC Barcelona's medical staff, he was unable to continue.
Hansi Flick decided to replace him in the 29th minute, bringing on Jules Kounde, who had started the match from the bench.

DFThe main concern is that the blow has landed again in an area that has already caused him problems recently. Eric Garcia suffered a nasal fracture in November 2025 during the Champions League match against Club Brugge, an injury that forced the player to use a protective mask during his recovery.
With the medical tests and the exact extent of this new blow still to be confirmed, everything points to the defender possibly having to use nose protection again in the coming matches if he can ultimately continue competing normally.
For now, we will have to wait for the assessment by FC Barcelona's medical staff to find out whether there is a new fracture or if it is simply a severe trauma.
