Gabriel Jesus makes his debut with Barça and Gavi returns ahead of a trip to Mestalla
Barcelona have completed their first training session of the week with Gabriel Jesus integrated into the group and Gavi back in collective work. Hansi Flick is preparing for next Sunday's clash against Valencia, corresponding to matchday four of LaLiga 2026-27.
The FC Barcelona already has Gabriel Jesus in group training and has brought Gavi back for collective sessions. Both were the main talking points of the session held this Thursday at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper, where the team began preparing for their trip to Valencia.
The Blaugrana squad returned to work after enjoying two days off. The session started at 11.00 am at the Sant Joan Despí facilities and allowed the Brazilian forward to be seen for the first time alongside his new teammates.
Gabriel Jesus completes his first training session
Gabriel Jesus arrived at the Blaugrana club last Monday, on the final day of the transfer window, and was officially presented on Tuesday. This Thursday, the attacker completed his first session under the orders of Hansi Flick.
The Brazilian quickly joined the group thanks to the good physical condition he arrived in when he landed in Barcelona. The forward carried out the pre-season normally with Manchester City, so he did not need any specific ramp-up work before starting training with his new teammates.
During the session, Gabriel Jesus already had contact with the squad and took part in the drills designed to prepare for Sunday's match against Valencia.
Gavi returns to collective training
The second standout development was Gavi returning to training with the group. The Andalusian midfielder had missed the last two Barcelona matches after the knock he suffered in the clash against Elche.
The player was substituted before half-time due to discomfort in his right leg. The situation initially raised concern about the possibility of an injury, although the problem ultimately was not any more serious. Gavi was not available for the subsequent fixtures against Athletic and Rayo Vallecano.
His presence this Thursday alongside the rest of the team opens the possibility that he could be included in the squad for Sunday's match at Mestalla.
Valencia will host on Sunday at Mestalla
Barcelona will visit Valencia next Sunday from 4.15 pm, in a match corresponding to matchday four of LaLiga 2026-27.
The Blaugrana side head into the game after beating Rayo Vallecano 5-2. The result allows them to top the table with a perfect record, nine points from nine, and a goal difference of +10.
With Gabriel Jesus already integrated and Gavi back training with the group, Hansi Flick continues preparing for a new league fixture.
