Simeone repeats the XI from the Pizjuan in his trial for San Mames

Atletico Madrid could repeat at San Mames the lineup it used at the Pizjuan. Diego Pablo Simeone again opted for the same XI during the small-sided game organized in Thursday's training, a test ahead of next Saturday's match against the Athletic Club.

The formation rehearsed would be made up of Oblak; Llorente, Pubill, Hancko and Grimaldo; Giuliano, Hjulmand, Barrios and Lookman; Kang-in and Baena. That would mean the rojiblanco side faces one of the most demanding away trips of the season with a group that already responded in its most recent league outing.

A test still pending confirmation

The morning session provided another clue about the plans of the Argentine coach. After the ball work, the players who formed the likely starting XI completed specific drills, while the coaching staff finalized preparations for the match.

The lineup is still not definitive. Atletico will hold its final training session this Friday before traveling to Bilbao and, as long as no last-minute physical issues arise, Simeone could keep faith in the XI that prevailed at the Pizjuan.

That will be when the last doubts are cleared up before the visit to Athletic Club's stadium.
