The player’s situation has not evolved as initially expected. After going under the knife in early August for a personal matter, unrelated to sporting activity, the Real Sociedad expected the recovery period to be shorter.

At the time, a deadline of around two weeks was being discussed, to the point that it was not ruled out that he could be back even before the league campaign got underway. For now, that scenario is a long way off.

Recovery with no set date

Guedes has not been able to complete a normal pre-season or add any preparation minutes, two factors that weigh heavily on his immediate availability. With that context, the match against Real Betis appears practically out of reach.

As of 18 August, the latest information places the Portuguese player outside Pellegrino Matarazzo’s closest plans. The idea is to avoid rushing his return, finish the recovery first, and then gradually introduce him into the competitive rhythm.
