Bakambu finds a team

According to reports from Brazil, Internacional de Porto Alegre are already exchanging documents with Bakambu in an attempt to complete the deal. Bakambu was offered to Internacional weeks ago, but at the time the club were cautiously assessing his potential adaptation to Brazilian football. That situation has now changed.

The agreement could include a salary close to 100,000 euros per month. Internacional have other options for their attack, including Wilfried Zaha and Alen Halilovic, although their main target remains the Paraguayan Álex Arce, currently at Independiente Rivadavia.

For Bakambu, Brazil would be a new chapter in a career shaped by moves between countries. The forward, born in France and an international with the Democratic Republic of the Congo, has already played for Sochaux, Olympique de Marseille, Villarreal, Beijing Guoan, Bursaspor, Galatasaray, Olympiacos and Betis.

His departure from Seville comes after a 25/26 season in a secondary role. He played 27 matches, scored four goals and provided three assists in 1,175 minutes. He also took part in the World Cup with the Democratic Republic of the Congo, starting all three group-stage matches, although he was substituted in all of them.

The striker had other options months earlier, because Oviedo and Alavés asked about him during the January transfer window, and interest from Italian side Genoa also emerged. Bakambu then decided to stay at Betis until his contract ends.

Now, at 35 years old and as a free agent, everything points to his next destination being far from Europe. Internacional can offer him the contract he was looking for and, barring a last-minute twist, the forward is preparing to arrive in Brazilian football.
