Fantasy alert with Pape Gueye!

The name of Pape Gueye is starting to move strongly in the final stretch of the transfer window. According to the French newspaper L'Equipe, Al-Ahli has included the Senegalese midfielder among its options to strengthen the midfield, a position where Franck Kessié's situation is also being watched.

For now, the interest has not turned into a formal offer. The Saudi club is keeping an eye on the situation and keeping the player in its orbit, although the Villarreal still holds the upper hand: Gueye has two more seasons left on his contract and is considered a key piece in the squad managed by Iñigo Pérez following the departure of Marcelino García Toral.

The Castellón-based club is not in a rush to sell. Even so, they know that an operation of this kind could bring in significant money if Al-Ahli decides to move with figures that match its recent track record in the market. The Saudi side has already carried out major investments, such as the 40 million for Trincao, the 42 million paid to Brentford for Toney, or the 50 million paid to Porto for Galeno.

Gueye's performance helps explain the interest. Last season, he put in standout displays for Villarreal and also for Senegal, especially in the Africa Cup, where he scored in the final. Later, at the World Cup, he again left his mark with goals and good interventions.

In recent weeks, the Everton also appeared as a club interested in the midfielder. From England, they pointed to a possible 28 million euros offer at the time, a figure that did not fit Villarreal's demands. Different reports put the player's valuation at around 40 million euros.

The calendar also plays a role. The summer market is still open during August in Spain, but the start of the competition is already close. The later a real move for Pape Gueye arrives, the less room the Castellón club will have to reinvest the money from a sale.
