Javi Galán halts his pre-season with a minor injury at Celta
The return of Javi Galán to Vigo has begun with a physical setback. The left-back has suffered a low-grade muscle injury, although the schedule still gives him room to try to make his league debut against Osasuna.

The target remains set for August 16. Unless the recovery becomes more complicated, Javi Galán should not be ruled out for the first league match of the Celta, who will host Osasuna at Balaídos.
The medical tests carried out on the Extremaduran defender have confirmed a low-grade fibrillar tear in the left femoral rectus. The issue appeared after the friendly against Sporting de Braga, the first test of the Celeste pre-season, in which Claudio Giráldez handed out minutes and did not give more than 45 to any of his players.
Galán was the only player who finished that match injured. The 31-year-old full-back had started and played the first half, but discomfort after a run set off alarm bells. With that diagnosis, the norm is that he will not take part in the next two pre-season friendlies, against Sporting de Gijón and Académico de Viseu.
His situation is especially relevant given the timing. After heading to the Atlético de Madrid in 2023 and then being loaned out by Real Sociedad and Osasuna, the player from Badajoz has returned to the Vigo side in a position with weight within the squad. Mingueza's departure, after not renewing his contract, opens the door for him to take on a bigger role on the left flank.

DFThe setback breaks a run of excellent physical consistency. In his first spell as a Celeste, between 2021 and 2023, Galán played 74 of the 76 league matchdays and missed only two games due to suspension, both for accumulating yellow cards.
His most significant medical precedent in recent years came during his loan at Real Sociedad, when a knock to the first toe of his left foot kept him out of three matches.
The Celta medical room is not limited to the full-back. Ilaix Moriba continues recovering from tenosynovitis in the right Achilles tendon, although he has already started doing part of the work with the group. Pablo Durán, meanwhile, continues with his individual plan after surgery on his left shoulder, which he underwent at the end of May.
