Matteo Ruggeri will continue at Atletico Madrid

The Italian market moved around Matteo Ruggeri, but the response was the same in every case. Tullio Tinti, the player's agent, said in comments to Sky Sport that the plan of the rojiblanco club is to keep the defender in the squad.

The Roma, the Fiorentina and another Serie A team asked about the full-back's situation after a first season at the Atlético de Madrid that did not go unnoticed in his home country. None of those avenues, however, has ended up moving forward.

"Fiorentina, Roma and another Serie A club have shown interest in him, but Atletico de Madrid's plans are clear: they want to keep him. Matteo will stay at the Atleti", said Tinti.

The representative's words reduce doubts about the player's future. At the Metropolitano they see Ruggeri as an important piece for the project and do not consider his departure during this window.

Everything, therefore, points to the full-back continuing under the orders of Diego Simeone in the 2026-27 season, putting for now the possibility of returning to Italian football on the back burner.
