Akhomach gains momentum at Sevilla amid the block over Bryan Zaragoza

Sevilla are already moving to strengthen the flanks and have found in Ilias Akhomach an option that fits much better their economic reality. The Villarreal winger has moved into a prominent spot on the sporting directorate's list, which has already begun contacts in an attempt to get his arrival over the line this summer.

The operation being considered is a loan for the 2026/27 season, with a purchase option still to be defined. In addition, his salary falls within the limits the club is working with, a key factor in the club's sporting planning for this transfer window.

At 22 years old, Akhomach is looking for a destination where he can get more regular playing time. Last season he played 11 league matches and also took part in the Conference League, although he was unable to establish himself as a starter at Villarreal. At Sevilla, he would have the chance to take on a much more important role.

The search for wingers has become a priority for Luis García Plaza. The coach is expecting major changes in that area of the pitch in light of possible departures such as Rubén Vargas and Juanlu, as well as the potential exits of Chidera Ejuke and Oso. The sporting directorate is working to find young profiles with flair and room to grow.

Bryan Zaragoza remains the big favorite for the coaching staff, but signing him is proving very difficult. The Bayern Munich side requires that the club bringing him in take on virtually his entire wage package, an amount that Sevilla cannot currently afford. That is compounded by interest from several Primera División clubs, which has further increased the complexity of the deal.

Sevilla have already taken the first steps to try to close a signing that would strengthen one of the squad's most in-need positions without jeopardizing their delicate financial situation.
