Joselu, one step away from returning to Depor

The Deportivo is about to close one of the most exciting returns of the summer. Joselu Mato is very close to going back to Riazor after ending his time in Qatar football, with talks between both sides already focused on the final details of the agreement.

The Galician forward, aged 36, had offers to continue in LaLiga. Both Alavés and Getafe showed interest in his situation, but the attacker's priority has always been to return home and put on the blue-and-white shirt again.

The deal would be a major boost for the attack of the Coruña side as they return to the top flight. The Depor are looking for experience for a squad that, for now, only has Nsongo Bil with his place in the starting lineup secured. In addition, the future of Zakaria Eddachouri remains unresolved, as the forward is weighing several proposals to leave the club this summer.

Joselu already knows exactly what it means to play at Riazor. In the 2016-17 season he played his first spell as a Deportivo player, in which he scored five goals before continuing a career that took him through some of Europe's top competitions.

His career includes stints at Real Madrid, Alavés and Espanyol in Spain, as well as experiences in the Premier League with Newcastle and Stoke City, and in the Bundesliga with Hoffenheim, Eintracht Frankfurt and Hannover. Now, everything points to the next chapter of his career being written again in A Coruña, where the Deportivo expects to complete his signing in the coming days.
