The end of Batista Mendy's spell at Sevilla has arrived, and his future points to staying linked to LaLiga. The French midfielder is negotiating his move to Getafe, which has already started talks with Trabzonspor to secure his services.

The Madrid club has made the midfielder one of its priorities to strengthen José Bordalás's squad. The offer put forward is around 3.5 million euros, although the Turkish club keeps a valuation of between four and five million to complete the transfer.

Mendy, 26, returns to the market after Sevilla decided not to exercise the seven million euro purchase option included in his loan. The player had said he wanted to continue at the Sánchez-Pizjuán, but the club's delicate financial situation and sporting planning ultimately led to the deal being ruled out.

In the 2025-26 season, he played 26 league matches and was a regular option first for Matías Almeyda and then for Javi García Plaza. His role was gradually reduced in the final stretch of the campaign, a factor that also influenced the decision not to bet on keeping him.

After his departure was confirmed, the Frenchman bid farewell to Sevilla's fans with a thank-you message on social media, saying it had been a source of pride to wear the club's shirt.

Bordalás believes that Mendy has the qualities he is looking for to strengthen the midfield following the exits of Arambarri and Luis Milla. His physical power, work rate and knowledge of Spanish football fit the profile the Azulón coach wants.

The Trabzonspor side that paid 4.4 million euros for his signing in 2023 believes that this summer is a good opportunity to recover a large part of the investment before the player reaches the final stretch of his contract.
