Fran Beltrán has become one of the few positive notes in a difficult season for Girona. His performances since January have strengthened Míchel's midfield, although relegation and a very low release clause have left his future in the air.

The signing of the Madrid-born midfielder was discreet, almost silent, but it ended up having an immediate impact at Montilivi. He arrived from Celta during the winter transfer window and soon made himself at home in the coach's plans.

His involvement sums up the impact well. Since joining, he played 17 of the 18 possible matches, a run of consistency that reflects the trust he earned in very little time. In a team that needed stability, Beltrán brought composure on the ball, energy in the press, and a competitive presence that helped keep the central area steady.

Seen in perspective, the deal was especially striking for its cost. The Girona paid a little more than 100,000 euros for a 27-year-old player with experience in LaLiga, a figure that is very low by today's market standards.

A solution for the midfield, but with an uncertain future

Beltrán also covered a gap the club had been carrying since the departure of Aleix García. The team had taken time to find a profile capable of combining pause, balance, and work in the middle of the pitch, and the former Celta player offered exactly that in a delicate phase of the season.

For any LaLiga side that wants to strengthen the midfield, it's a very accessible figure. Beltrán, moreover, has shown that he can compete at the highest level and is at an ideal age to keep growing. In that scenario, the Rayo Vallecano is sounding strongly as a possible destination for the return of the Madrid-born midfielder.
