Nico Paz has changed the scenario that had been under discussion over the past few months. The Argentine international prefers to stay one more season at Como, where he will continue under the orders of Cesc Fàbregas and will have the Champions League as a new showcase.

Real Madrid C.F.

The midfielder's priority is to compete regularly and maintain an important role. That goal, according to recent developments at the Real Madrid, did not seem easy to guarantee in the short term, so the player has told the white club that he does not intend to return this summer.

Weeks ago, Nico Paz and the Madrid hierarchy had discussed the possibility of his return. That conversation took place before the change of scenario brought about by the presidential election and the arrival of José Mourinho, a situation that ended up altering the planned script.

Mourinho has also not been able to guarantee the minutes the player was looking for. With that picture in mind, both sides understand that the most sensible option is to extend his spell in Italy, where the Argentine has already settled and where Como will face a season with greater continental demands.

Real Madrid retains control of his future

The deadline to exercise the buy-back option ends on the 30th of June, although the decision has already been made. Real Madrid still has one last route to bring him back until 30 June 2027, in which case it would be through the payment of 10 million euros.

The white club's confidence in Nico Paz remains intact, but the current sporting situation suggests prioritizing profiles with more experience, following the line set by Mourinho. His stay at Como does not change the underlying nature of the deal: the player's future will continue to depend on Real Madrid at least until 30 June 2027.

If another club wanted to sign him, it would need the go-ahead from the Madrid side. In addition, Real Madrid would have the right to receive half of the transfer fee, a possibility that is not being considered in Valdebebas right now.
