The return of Racing de Santander to LaLiga is also starting to take shape in the boardroom. The Cantabrian club plans to exercise the purchase option for Facundo González, a deal that will generate revenue for Valencia.

After sealing promotion 14 years later, Racing will activate one of the moves it had already lined up following the loan of the Uruguayan centre-back. According to journalist Salva Gomis, the club will pay 2.5 million euros for the defender, whose rights belong to the Juventus.

The Valencia will also benefit from the deal, as it retains part of Facundo González's rights. That stake will allow the Che club to bring in around 550,000 euros once the signing is completed.

The 22-year-old centre-back has played 28 matches this season for the Cantabrian side. In that run, he has also scored a goal, netting against Deportivo de la Coruña last October. His market value, according to Transfermarkt, stands at 3 million euros.

Facundo González already knew Spanish football before arriving at Racing. His first step was through the youth ranks of Espanyol, before joining Valencia's academy. With the Valencian reserve team, he played 20 games in Segunda B and another 17 in Segunda Federación between 2020 and 2023.

In the 2023/24 season, he signed for Juventus, although he did not manage to settle in Turin. First, he was loaned out to Sampdoria, where he racked up 28 appearances in Italy's Serie B, and then he moved on to Feyenoord, with six matches in the Eredivisie and two in the UEFA Champions League.

The left-footed defender, standing at 1.93 metres, also has international experience. He has been called up by Uruguay's senior national team and in 2023 he was crowned world champion at Under-20 level with his country, for whom he has played 40 times.

Racing's plan is not limited to Facundo González. The club will also exercise the purchase option for Asier Villalibre, agreed as part of his loan from Deportivo Alavés, and will complete the return of Sergio Canales after his spell at Rayados de Monterrey. The midfielder, who was trained in Santander and made his top-flight debut with Racing, will arrive on a free transfer and will cut his salary from the five million euros he was earning in Mexico down to one million.
