Ceballos on Ajax's agenda for next season
Ajax is starting to move pieces to rebuild its squad and Dani Ceballos is among the names that appeal in Ámsterdam. The Real Madrid midfielder fits the profile of an experienced player they are looking for Jordi Cruyff as he begins his first project as sporting director at the Dutch club.

Ajax's idea is to strengthen the team with veteran players who can help them reclaim the throne of the Eredivisie, a title they have not won since 2022. This season, with PSV already crowned with four matchdays remaining, the Amsterdam side are fighting to qualify for the Champions League.
Jordi Cruyff wants to combine that experience with the club's traditional bet on the young talent from its academy. It is in that fit that Ceballos appears, who at 29 years old still has a contract with the Real Madrid until 2027, although his role this season has been a secondary one.
Few minutes and a possible exit that is back on the agenda
The utrerano comes from overcoming a muscle injury in the sole of his right leg that left him six and a half weeks out. Since his return, he has not taken part in the last three matches of the white team: the two ties against Bayern and the league game against Girona.
With Arbeloa as well, he has not found consistency. In the 13 matches in which he has been available to the coach, Ceballos has not started any and has only played minutes in five games.
The possibility of a departure for the midfielder is nothing new. His return to the Betis has been present in different transfer windows, although the destination closest he came to last summer was Marseille. The French club agreed with Madrid on a loan deal with an obligation to buy in the final stretch of the market, with LaLiga already underway, but the player stalled the operation. That decision did not go down well in the upper echelons at Valdebebas.
This campaign, Ceballos has barely added 804 minutes spread across 22 matches, with only 7 starts. His numbers place him as the third least-used outfield player in the squad, only ahead of Mendy and Alaba, both of whom have been sidelined by long-term injuries.
