Monaco enters the fray for Casado

Marc Casadó faces one of the most important summers of his career. At 22 years old, the midfielder developed at La Masia knows he needs to make a decision about his future after a season in which his role was much smaller than expected.

The latest club to show interest in his situation is AS Monaco. The Principality club, which is close to completing the definitive signing of Ansu Fati following his loan spell and a deal valued at around 11 million euros, has also turned its attention to another Barcelona player. The name of Casadó has come up in talks held over the past few hours between the Monaco club and Jorge Mendes, the player's agent.

The Monaco option gains momentum because it offers an attractive setting for the midfielder. The team will compete in European competition and is putting together a new project with major ambitions. In addition, the arrival of Filipe Luis on the bench could open a period of change in which Casadó would have room to grow.

Casadó is a pivot with a tactical profile, intense in his pressing and very reliable with the ball. He stands out for his reading of the game, his ability to win back possession and his ease in keeping the ball moving. He is not especially physical as a midfielder, but makes up for a lack of power with positional intelligence and aggression in duels. 

It is not the only proposal the player is considering. The Catalan has interest from different European leagues, including the Atlético de Madrid and also Saudi Arabia. However, his priority remains to assess whether any of those destinations can guarantee the step he is looking for at a sporting level.

Back in the winter market, he was close to leaving the Barça. At the time, he chose to stay after talks with Hansi Flick. The German coach asked him for patience and the player agreed to continue until the end of the season. With the campaign over and after accumulating few minutes in the decisive months, the scenario has changed and a move is once again on the table.
