The Swiss fullback was being handled with care after finishing with discomfort in the last league match against Real Sociedad. Although it was reported during the morning that he was pushing to be available, the latest update points to the player ultimately not being able to play against Elche.

With this last-minute absence, Pellegrini would have called up the youth player Carlos de Roa, the B team’s left back, to complete the Betis squad. The young player had already been training with the first team in recent days and could now get an opportunity in a call-up marked by defensive problems.

Update: Mateo González reports that the player is going through a febrile process and that it won’t be decided until tomorrow whether he will play or not. If he is unable to do so, the big beneficiary of the absence would be Junior Firpo, who could occupy the left flank.
