Héctor Fort is back in the spotlight and increasingly attracting suitors. Inter Milan had already inquired about him, there was even talk of including him in the Bastoni deal, but now another strong contender has emerged: Bayer Leverkusen. According to Matteo Moretto, the Germans have called to gauge his situation for the next season.

Fort, who is on loan this season at Elche until the end of the campaign, has already recovered from the shoulder injury and returned as a starter in the crucial victory in Oviedo. His contract with Barça runs until 2029, but his future is uncertain. Between the fact that he needs minutes and there being overbooking on the right flank in the first team (Koundé, Eric García performing well, and Xavi Simons with a reserved spot under Flick), the outlook doesn’t look easy for him.

Leverkusen sees him as an ideal project to continue developing, and not without reason: Fort can play on the right, on the left, and even as a right center-back, as he already did with Eder Sarabia at Elche. He is 19 years old and has a market value of 12 million according to Transfermarkt, though he probably is worth more given his progression. Barça could keep a buyback clause or some type of compensation, as they already did with Abde.

Meanwhile, Inter remains on the lookout, and there Barça might try to be creative: Fort as a bargaining chip to lower the cost of Bastoni. The club’s economic situation forces them to consider such formulas.

For now, the kid is focused on his own thing: trying to save Elche. Today they have a key match at Balaídos against Celta and he is focused on that. The rest will be decided in summer, when it’s time to see if he returns to Barça, goes to Germany, or ends up involved in a swap headed to Italy.

And one more option. It can’t be ruled out that the one sold could be Koundé, with a market value of 65 million, according to Transfermarkt. An offer of 50 million for him wouldn’t be off the market. He hasn't had one of his best seasons and Barça, in order to bring in a media star, will have no choice but to sell, since the famous 1:1 rule has still not been met yet. If this happens, Héctor Fort would have a better chance of staying in the first team, so get ready for the summer market, which promises to be entertaining.
