The future of Nico Schlotterbeck is starting to heat up… and Real Madrid is making a move. 

Despite having a contract until 2031, in his last renewal, he included a clause in which the new agreement states "a release clause of 50 to 60 million euros" that will come into effect next summer and will only apply to a few top world clubs, among which Real Madrid would be.

The club is clear that strengthening the defense is a priority, and the name of the German center-back has long been highlighted on the list of preferred players for that position, following the inconsistent season of Huijsen. His performance in the Bundesliga has been more than solid in recent seasons, and that has not gone unnoticed. The problem: they are not the only ones interested.

Teams like Bayern and Barça are also paying attention, so the fight promises to be serious, if Borussia puts him on the market. Although everything points to Schlotterbeck possibly being open to leaving Dortmund, getting him out of there is not going to be cheap or easy.

This is where Real Madrid’s plan comes in. They know that Dortmund does not want to lose him, so they are already thinking of an offer that could convince the Germans next summer.

The idea? Mix money and young talent. On the one hand, Madrid would be willing to put between 25 and 30 million euros on the table. But the interesting part comes with the players: some young Madrid players are quite liked in Dortmund.

Arda Güler is one of them, but Madrid doesn’t even consider letting him go. He is untouchable. However, other names like Diego Aguado or Gonzalo could enter the operation if the conditions are right.
