Girona - Mallorca

Match date: 05/01-21:00

Girona FC

The ghost of relegation looms at Montilivi, and we know that under pressure the Catalan team does not usually perform well. They have a 4-point advantage over the eighteenth place, and it is true that with a win they would practically certify their survival, but when this buzz starts in Girona, things begin to get complicated. The only one point out of nine possible has done a lot of damage to Míchel’s side, who were already seeing themselves happily fighting for Europe, but reality has hit them hard, and it is that either they shape up or they will head straight to the Second Division.

Crucial match for both teams’ objectives, a win would certify the permanence of one and would allow the other to breathe much easier, so both teams will go all out for the victory. There are five finals left and Montilivi has to be a fortress, the fans have to cheer like never before, and the players must leave everything on the field. The three points must stay at home.

Regarding the lineup, Míchel still cannot count on the injured players, plus an important absence is added, since Alex Moreno will miss the match after receiving his fifth yellow card and will have to serve a suspension. The rest will be as expected, considering the absences the team has.

RCD Mallorca

Mallorca visits Montilivi in what will be their second consecutive away match. In the previous one, the Bermellón side could not earn points at Mendizorroza. Alavés took the three points and Jan Virgili’s goal was of little use. With Sevilla (playing at home against Real) and Levante (away against Villarreal) one and two points behind respectively, Demichelis’ team cannot afford to drop points in this match to avoid getting stuck again.

For the match, it is likely that Morlanes will be one of the midfielders instead of David López and that Mascarell will play as a center-back. Up front, although Luvumbo is already recovered, Virgili and Pablo Torre (a former Girona player) are expected to accompany Muriqi.
