Deportivo Alavés got a big scare right at the start of the match at Mendizorroza against RCD Mallorca. Barely three minutes had passed when Lucas Boyé had to say “that’s it” after feeling a pull in the back of his thigh.

It looks like a hamstring problem, and although medical tests are still pending to confirm it, the initial impressions are not good at all. In short, it smells like a possible tear and that could leave the Argentine forward out for several matchdays at a quite complicated moment in the season. If confirmed, he will not play again until next season.

The substitution was immediate: Ibrahim Diabaté came on in the 3rd minute, forcing the team coached by Martín Demichelis to reshape their game plan on the fly. An important setback, because Alavés must get points no matter what in this final stretch of LaLiga.

Right now everything awaits the medical tests, but in Vitoria they are already crossing their fingers… because losing Boyé now would be a very hard blow.

For fantasy purposes, he is a clear sell before tomorrow’s market adjusts prices.

More than an injury, what happened to Toni Martínez seems to be pure exhaustion. The Deportivo Alavés forward ended up exhausted after the effort and, in the 80th minute, he requested a substitution due to cramps in both calves. After a week of maximum effort and a great match at Mendizorroza, his exit was more out of caution than anything else. In fact, the first examination rules out serious muscle problems.

And the match did not start easy for the Vitoria team against RCD Mallorca at all. Three minutes in, they had already lost Lucas Boyé to injury, and soon after, in the 18th minute, Jan Virgili put the Balearic team ahead.

That was when Toni Martínez stepped up and took the team on his shoulders. First, he equalized the match in the 56th minute after a well-placed corner by Abde Rebbach, and later, in the 69th minute, completed the comeback with the 2-1 thanks to an assist from Ángel Pérez.

In the end, so much effort took its toll, but everything points to no injury. If there are no setbacks in the coming days, Toni Martínez should be available without problems, something key for Alavés in this decisive stretch of the season.
